Expert Radon Mitigation System Installation

Front Range Radon Testing’s radon technicians undergo rigorous training in the most effective practices for installing radon mitigation systems. These systems are designed to efficiently lower radon gas levels in your home. Every one of our contractors is licensed and adheres to all recommended industry practices, guaranteeing the highest quality solutions for your home.

The design of your radon mitigation system will be customized to your home’s unique structure. We categorize homes based on their foundation design—whether you have a basement, crawl space, or slab—as this determines the most appropriate mitigation approach. While specific procedures may vary, the core goal remains the same: to effectively reduce radon levels and enhance your indoor air quality.

Common Radon Mitigation Procedures

The specific procedures for radon mitigation vary slightly depending on the type of system best suited for your home’s structure. However, the core objective is always to effectively lower radon to below the industry standard of 4pCi/L.

Our Radon Mitigation Process

To counteract the “stack effect,” which naturally draws air (and radon) from beneath your home into your living areas, we implement a depressurization strategy. Here’s how it generally works:

  • Radon Gas Redirection: We create a suction point (or sometimes multiple points) by coring a small 5 inch hole into your home’s basement slab.

  • Ventilation with PVC Piping: The radon gas is then drawn through this suction point and safely vented outside your home via a PVC pipe. This pipe can be installed either through the interior of your house or along the exterior. Some newer homes may even have pre-installed radon control systems that run through the home’s structure.

  • Outdoor Venting: The PVC pipe is connected to a radon fan, typically located on the exterior or in the attic ensuring proper and efficient ventilation of the radon gas away from your home.

  • Sealing Entry Points: To prevent further gas entry, all identifiable cracks are sealed as needed using a durable urethane caulking compound.

  • Final System Checklist: After installation, our trained and certified technicians perform a thorough inspection of the entire radon mitigation system. This includes checking for proper system labeling, fan operation, and other key details to ensure compliance with industry standards.

  • Post-Mitigation Retesting: Within 30 days of installation, we offer constant electronic radon monitor retest or we will provide a retest kit to confirm the system is working effectively and that radon levels have been significantly reduced.
